Lonza Visp is looking for a Team Manager Microbial Upstream Development. Our team develops and optimizes microbial fermentation and primary recovery processes for the production of bio-pharmaceuticals on behalf of customers. As USP team manager you will lead and manage a team of senior SMEs in alignment with Lonza’s leadership culture.

Key responsibilities:

  • You will act as first escalation level for those professionals and support customer projects as a senior expert.

  • You anticipate, evaluate and implement trends and innovations in fermentation and primary recovery by developing, facilitating and supporting internal and external initiatives.

  • You will support and deputize group leader activities including resource/project planning and coordination, knowledge management, finances and budget and customer offering.

  • Key requirements:

  • In addition to an advanced degree in biotechnology or biochemistry, you will have several years of experience in fermentation development.

  • You will bring expertise with various fermentation and primary recovery technologies ideally gained in a bio-pharmaceutical environment.

  • You have an in-depth understanding of concepts and principles in your own discipline and a basic knowledge of these elements in other disciplines.

  • Ideally you bring experience working in a matrix organization during multiple stages in the life cycle of an API.

  • Moreover, you have a proven record of leadership skills including topics like e.g., coaching, people development, conflict and change management.

  • You enjoy working together in a team of multidisciplinary people and contributing to the success of our dynamic group.

  • Excellent English and good German language skills complete your profile.
